Club Nickname - The Shakers
Formed in 1885, Bury were borne out of a public meeting that was held in the White Horse Hotel in the town centre, and four years later they were instrumental in forming the Lancashire League. After winning the Lancs. League in successive seasons, the Shakers were elected to the second division of the Football League in 1894, winning the championship in their debut season after victories in all fifteen home games.

How to get to Gigg Lane
These directions assume you'll be getting to Bury via the M66. Exit the M66 at Junction 3 and turn left (right if you are Southbound) onto Pilsworth Road. Go over the roundabout and continue for about a mile on this road. Turn right at the lights onto Manchester Road. Go through the next set of lights and then over the pedestrian crossing further up. Continue until you pass the playing fields on your left. Gigg Lane is the next on your right.
