Hughes asks for Bury move - Manchester Evening News - Wed, 13 Sept 1995:
IAN Hughes rocked Bury today by slapping in a transfer request but the highly-rated Welsh under -21 captain will not be allowed to leave Gigg Lane for less than £100,000.  Hughes lost his place at centre-half after the departure of manager Mike Walsh and care-taker-boss Stan Ternent has gone for the experience of Trevor Matthew-son alongside Chris Lucketti.  "I don't feel part of the club's plans," said Hughes. "I was not even on the bench on Saturday and I was made a scapegoat for the heavy defeat by Plymouth."  'I have played over 100 first team games but feel I'm now in something of a rut. A change may well be just what I need."  Ternent said: "I am disappointed but understand the lad's reasoning. We will not stand in his way because we only want happy players at the club.
Ternent could call up Mark Sertori to take over from suspended Ryan Cross at Lincoln tonight.  Former Preston boss John Beck, Frank Staple-ton and Phil Neal have applied for the Gigg Lane manager's job.
