Bury FC Manager Goes - Bolton Evening News - Tue 05 Sep 1995:
Mike Walsh's five year reign as manager of Bury FC ended yesterday. He departed "by mutual consent" after his regular Monday morning meeting with chairman and chief executive Terry Robinson. The parting of the ways came 48 hours after a 5-0 home defeat by Plymouth Argyle. There were angry scenes following the game as frustrated supporters launched missiles at the main stand. Major shareholder Hugh Eaves and Mr. Robinson were both subjected to verbal abuse. Thirty nine year old Walsh, who took over the hot seat from Sam Ellis in December 1990, was working without a contract. Despite taking the club to Wembley last may, when they lost in the final of the Third Division play offs. Walsh's managership had been unpopular with some fans for some time. Coach Stan Ternent will take over team selection for tonight's Coca Cola Cup Tie against Chesterfield.
