Striker's big thank you - Bury Times - Tuesday, 31 October 1995:
Four Goal hero Phil Stant was quick to acknowledge the part played by his team-mates in his success and Saturday's fine victory at Field Mill.  "I'm delighted, it was a great team performance today and the lads did brilliantly for me," he enthused.  "There was some great , passing and movement and when chances are created like that you just : have to put them away.''  "We've been threatening to do this for some time and hopefully we've now turned the corner.   "It's taken quite a few weeks for us to hit form and you can't quite put your finger on what's been going wrong but we've set our own standards now," explained Stant.  The striker received a hero's welcome from the Stags' faithful on his return and he still has a deep affection for the club.  "I really enjoyed my time here at Field Mill. I had a great rapport with the fans and it's a nice little club," he said.  "I'm just sorry it had to be them on the end of this hiding. "   Manager Stan Tement described his striker's performance as "top quality" but warned that after such a result the team should keep their feet on the ground.   "Phil took his goals ever so well it was a top quality display," said Tement.  "We' ve shown today just what we're capable of doing, all the players did well and once we got on level terms I always felt we could go on and win.   "There have been signs there on two or three occasions this season, but we seem to go from the sublime to the ridiculous and vice versa.  "We ve been working hard in training to get it right and fortunately today it all worked out.   "But we won't get carried away we must get a result at Torquay and hopefully start rising up the league."
