Unchanged for trip to nose diving Gulls - Bury Times - Tuesday, 31 October 1995:
BURY travel to Torquay United tonight hoping to pile even more grief on a club in crisis. The Gulls were on the receiving end of an 8-1 home mauling by Scunthorpe United on Saturday then twenty-four hours later parted company with player-manager Don O'Riordan. Plainmoor chairman Mike Bateson has put Kevin Hodges and Paul Compton in temporary charge of team affairs after what was the club's worst defeat in 62 years. However, manager Stan Ternent is well aware that Saturday's results will count for nothing when the sides meet at Plainmoor. "We'll not be taking anything for granted but will be going down there looking for a similar performance to the one at Mansfield," explained the Shakers' boss. "Torquay are sure to have something to prove after a defeat like that just like we did after losing to Scarborough last week. "But it's an opportunity to see if we can get that consistency we've been searching for," added Tement. The Shakers are likely to be unchanged from the side that hammered Mansfield on Saturday. Mark Carter's hamstring trouble keeps him out of contention while Lenny Johnrose, Andy Woodward, Dave Lancaster and John Paskin could all feature in the reserves at Darlington on Thursday. Jimmy Mulligan took another step towards recovery with a hat-trick in the "A" teams 4-3 defeat at Everton on Saturday morning.
