Boro to suffer the backlash? - Bury Times - Friday, 20 October 1995:
Bury boss Stan Ternent will be looking for a massive improvement from his players when Scarborough visit Gigg Lane tomorrow.  The visit of the Yorkshiremen, who have lost five of their six away games in the league, is an ideal opportunity for the Shakers to bounce back after Tuesday night's 4-0 Auto Windscreen Shield reverse at Scunthorpe.  However, Ternent might resist the temptation to wield the axe after the disappointing defeat.  "Although I am thinking about making some changes to the team, we have been doing well before Tuesday so I must weigh things up," the Shakers chief explained.  "There is no point in panicking, the players are capable of much better than they showed in midweek and the good thing is that we didn't put in that performance in a league game, so they may get a chance to put it right on Saturday," he added.  Tuesday night's performance was the worst Bury display since the manager took over the reins six weeks ago and after the match he turned his thoughts to the loyal supporters who travelled to Humberside for the game.  "I would like to apologise to the fans who made the trip for that absolutely disgraceful performance," a sympathetic Ternent declared.  "Professional footballers are paid a good wage and the supporters pay hard earned money to watch them play, but I my opinion they didn't perform anywhere near there capabilities.  Rest assured it will not happen again," he concluded.  Should the Shakers get back on revival trail then they will do so without the services of Mark Carter who limped off on Tuesday night with a hamstring strain.  Skipper David Pugh sits out the final match of his three game suspension, while also out of contention through injury are John Paskin, Andy Woodward, Jimmy Mulligan and Lenny Johnrose.  Carter's absence could open the door for a full debut for young striker David Johnson who replaced him on Tuesday night and scored in the reserves 2-0 victory over Darlington on Wednesday night.
