Cup of cheer is what Stan wants - Midweek Times, 03 October 1995:
THE SHAKERS have a chance to put their indifferent league form behind them tonight when Coca-Cola Cup action returns to Gigg Lane and they bid to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit against Dave Bassett's Sheffield United.  Bury boss Stan Tement is relishing the clash and believes his side are capable of an upset.  "It's a game I'm really looking forward to and will be a good test for our lads as they pit their wits against players from two divisions higher."Harry (Dave Bassett) has some quality players in his side and we're a goal behind but the object of the exercise from our point of view is to progress to the next round and that's what we'll be trying to do.   "We're looking for a good performance and will hopefully send the fans home happy." he added.  Phil Slant's goal at Bramall Lane two weeks ago could prove vitally important as a 1-0 victory for the Shakers after extra time would see them go into the hat for the next round on away goals.   Tement, still has a lengthy injury list and will rely predominantly on the squad that travelled to Gillingham on Saturday.  Goalkeeper Gary Kelly is in contention, and if recalled will come face to face with his younger brother and Republic of Ireland international Alan, however definitely out is new-signing Dean West who appeared for Lincoln City against Notts County in the first round.  Still unavailable are Lenny Johnrose (hamstring), John Paskin (achilles), Dave Lancaster tricked back) and Jimmy Mulligan (hamstring).  Andy Woodward's ankle problem improved sufficiently to play in the A team on Saturday but is considered short of match practice, as is Michael Jackson although Tement hinted that the latter could be added to tonight's squad.
