Shocked Stan keeps own counsel - Bury Times - Tuesday, 14 November 1995:
SOMBRE Stan Ternent had little to say after Bury's shock FA Cup exit, though he did admit it was one of his worst ever days in the game.  "We're all sick but we've got to take it on the chin and bounce back," he declared.  "All the talk this week will be about Blyth Spartans when it should be about Bury. It is like a funeral parlour in our dressing room. This ranks among the worst day I've had in more than 30 years in the game.  "We are aware that we cannot seem to score at home and that we look a bit anxious. We've had to suffer two major disappointments in a week but we must look ahead and put things right.  "Gary Kelly made a horrendous mistake for the first goal and goals change matches. We were always chasing the game after that," he concluded.
Asked about the substitutions, Ternent kept his own counsel.  "I don't talk about individuals", he insisted. "We work as a team, play as a team and win or lose as a team."  Striker Phil Slant who had a penalty appeal turned down, summed up the players' view of the Blyth first goal when he declared:  "Everyone could see there was a mistake but no one in our dressing room is having a go at Gary Kelly. There is no finger wagging in there. We are all to blame, the whole team"
