Bond was Bury reject - Bury Times - Tuesday, 14 November 1995:
Richie Bond had waited four years to extract revenge on the Shakers.  Back in 1991 he had been rejected after a week's trial and felt he had a point to prove.   "I thought I'd done well when I came here but the then manager, Mike Walsh, shook my hand, wished me well and signed on another trialist David Jones," revealed the Blyth striker. "It was nice to come back and do well.  "We always felt confident once we'd taken the lead. We set off like a house on fire and that seemed to set the tone for the afternoon.  Scoring goals is always thrilling but it was just as pleasurable setting up the second for Tommy (Ditchbum). He'd been on a 12hour shift until Sam and had to have an hour's kip in the chairman's car on the way to the game. We came to enjoy ourselves and that's what we did."
