Bimson break is big blow - Bury Times - Friday, 10 November 1995:
BURY'S preparations for tomorrow's first round FA Cup clash against UniBond Premier League Blyth Spartans have been rocked with the news that defender Stuart Bimson is out of action with a fractured elbow. The left-back, a £12,500 bargain buy from Macclesfield Town last season, is expected to be missing for a month with the injury, sustained in a second half collision with advertising hoardings at Elm Park.   Bimson's absence might not be the only selection headache for Bury boss Stan Ternent who welcomes Dean West back to the squad after being cup-tied for the Reading tie   lan Hughes, Nick Daws, Mark Sertori or even David Pugh could fill in at left back, while Lenny Johnrose will be watching any positional shifts with interest.  Ternent must also choose between David Johnson and fit again Mark Carter for a starting striking role alongside Phil Stant.  "Everybody says the boot is on the other foot for this game after recent cup matches," said Ternent.  "But we're really looking forward to it. We've had Blyth watched and they are no mugs, though everything being equal we would hope to progress.  "It's really important for clubs like ours to do well in the FA Cup. Last season we had a nice little run when we beat Bishop Auckland after two games, then Crewe away. followed by two exciting games against Tranmere Rovers.  "Despite Tuesday's result we're playing quite well at the moment and need to keep things bobbing along so with the backing of the fans, who can be so important to us, we'll try to put things right tomorrow." concluded Ternent.

The reward for victory over Wigan Athletic in Tuesday night's Auto Windscreens Shield clash at Gigg Lane is a tie against Second Division Rotherham United at Millmoor.   Nothing less than a win will be good enough for the Shakers as they bid to take runners-up spot in the three-team group.
