Boss Stan stays upbeat - Bury Times - Tuesday, 07 November 1995:
Bury boss Stan Ternent was upbeat about Saturday's result despite his side's failure to win for the seventh time in eight league matches in front of the Gigg Lane faithful. In the first half we had one or two problems with Darlington playing three against two in the middle of the park, but we sorted it out at half time," said the Shakers chief. "I was delighted with the second half performance and all that was lacking to send everybody home happy was a goal. It's difficult at home sometimes when teams like Darlington come and get nine men behind the ball, but they are the form side in the division and you could see why," he added. Ternent was philosophical about second half penalty decisions that didn't go the Shakers way. "I really felt we had one or two good claims but the referee didn't give them and we just have to live with that. We're on the right track though, the clean sheet was pleasing and gave us seven out of nine points which is something to build on." Keeper Gary Kelly was also in a happy mood after a second consecutive clean sheet. "Defensively we looked very solid and coped well with what is the best Darlington team I've seen for some time," he added. "Teams always raise their game when they come here because they regard us as one of the favourites. We are aware that our record at Gigg Lane could be a lot better but we don't have a phobia about it."
