Ternent's tactics prove too smart for rocky Rovers - Bury Times - Tuesday, 13 February 1996:
BURY boss Stan Ternent's tactical acumen won the day but he was equally pleased to just get back in action after the freeze-up. "It was nice to get playing again and obviously we're delighted with the result," he declared. "We created enough chances to have won the game by three, four or five but in the end one was enough. "It's never an easy place to come and that's only the second time they've been defeated at home so it's a very good win. "We had to battle for it because we're looked upon as a good side and we don't go anywhere without having to fight but I thought we slipped it about quite well when we got going." The Shakers chief also expressed himself pleased with the debut performance of on-loan full-back Paul Edwards. "Paul gave us a nice balance, he has a good left toot on him and fitted in well," said Ternent. "If he maintains that sort of performance we'll be more than happy." Rovers' manager Sammy Chung recognised his side were second best and rued the last minute missed opportunity. "We had a late chance to pinch a point but we wouldn't have deserved it," he explained. "I don't believe in bogey teams but Bury certainly seem to have something over us!"
