Reid relish at Rochdale return - Bury Times - Tuesday, 13 February 1996:
FORMER Spotland favourite Shaun Reid Is preparing himself for a hot reception from the Rochdale fans tonight when he makes his first return since his closed season move to Gigg Lane. The all-action midfielder was a cult hero with the 'Dale faithful during two spells with the club and he is relishing the derby clash after regaining his first team place at Doncaster on Saturday. "I've been lucky to get back in the side at the right time," he explained. "When you get injured at this club it's difficult to get back in, you've just got to bide your time and hope things run your way. "Now after winning on Saturday I'm looking to be playing against the old enemy," enthused Reid. "I got on great with the fans when I was.there but they don't take kindly to It when you leave and whenever I went back with York I got some stick, but it's no more than you'd expect." I still keep in touch with some of the lads there so there will be no holds barred that's for sure" he added.  Reid believes victory at Rochdale could kickstart the Shakers hectic second half of the season, "If we pick up three points from Spotland that puts us right back in the hunt" he declared. "We've got two games in hand on most teams so if we can put a run of four or five games together we can go straight up. "With the depth of squad we have now we're well capable of doing it.  The gaffer's got a lot of good players to choose from and there's a great attitude in the dressing room, we just need to put
our foot on the accelerator" he concluded.
