Same again for Sizzling Shakers - Bury Times - Friday, 22 December 1995:
ONLY a flu epidemic or an injury picked up in training is likely to stop Bury boss Stan Ternent from naming an unchanged line up for tomorrow's game against Colchester. The Shakers put in their best ninety minutes of the season in stretching their unbeaten run to seven games with a 1-0 win over Gillingham last weekend (see page 50). It was a performance that leaves Tement with little alternative other than to say 'play it again lads'. Shaun Reid (calf), Ryan Cross (hamstring) , and Mark Carter (hamstring) are all sidelined along with Chris Lucketti who sees out the last match of a three game ban. Long term casualties John Paskin and Stuart Bimson are also ruled out as the Shakers bid to build on 594 minutes without conceding a goal. However, it is at the other end of the pitch that much of the attention will focus as Phil Slant bids to end his own mini-goal drought. It is eight games since the star striker last found the net but Tement isn't too bothered. "We have kept winning and picking up points and that is the most important thing." he said. "All strikers have lean spells so we are not worried. Phil is a quality finisher but he is also good at setting up chances for others and that is vital. "We go into the Christmas period full of confidence with expectations riding high after Gillingham display. "If we keep performing like that we will have no problems but there is no point getting too carried away. You have to take one game at a time. It is an old saying but it remains valid."
