Hulme and Imps part Company - Bury Times - Tuesday, 19 December 1995:
FORMER Bury favourite Kevin Hulme has left Lincoln City after just two months of a three year contract. The Imps new boss John Beck agreed a financial settlement with the 28-year-old Farnworth bom striker after the two fell out. Hulme went to Lincoln in a September swap deal that brought Dean West to Gigg Lane. Hulme was given a three year contract by then Lincoln boss Steve Wicks and handed the captain's armband along with a central midfield role. Two games later Wicks was sacked in favour of Beck and Hulme was on borrowed time. He lost the skipper's job almost immediately and then his place in side. Matters came to a head during an FA Cup tie at Stockport and the two parties finally agreed to a cash settlement. "It was clear from the start that I didn't figure in John Beck's plans and I am now looking for fresh start somewhere else," revealed Hulme. "From being captain at Lincoln and enjoying a midfield role I was suddenly surplus to requirements and it was probably in everyone's best interests that I left." Another former Bury player Sammy Mcllroy has spoken to Hulme about the possibility of him joining Conference leaders Macclesfield but Hulme is hoping to secure a place at an Endsleigh League club. Hulme joined Bury for £5,000 from Radcliffe Borough and played 110 league games for the club in two spells either side of appearing on 34 occasions for Doncaster Rovers.
