Shakers unveil cheap ticket scheme - Bury Times - Tuesday, 12 December 1995:
FOLLOWING the success of last month's special offer on admission prices, the Shakers have announced another scheme that will allow cheap entry into Gigg Lane.  At this Saturday's Third Division crunch game against Gillingham, vouchers will be issued that will enable to holders to gain admission to the Colchester game on December 23 for £5 (adults) and £1 (juniors and OAPs).  In addition, commercial manager Neville Neville plans to send out special vouchers to schools In a bid to entice young supporters to Gigg Lane.  The scheme, which will be funded by major shareholder Hugh Eaves, comes on the back of a financial loss for last season of £378.000.   The deficit is the first for four years and can be attributed, almost entirely, to a big hike in wages and a dramatic reduction in transfer income.  Payroll costs rose from £620.000 to £790.000 as Bury built a big squad in an all-out bid for promotion.   Despite the commercial department, led by Mr Neville, and the social club doubling their profits. Mr Eaves was forced to dig deep into his own pocket and his total loans to the Shakers now stand at £1.68 million. up from £1.39 million.  Mr Eaves will not be asking for any interest payments and no time limit has been set for repayment.   The ground has now been valued at £4.681 million and is a lasting tribute to chairman Terry Robinson and the board.  The club is also committed to spending another £850.000 on a community facility joining the Main Stand and Manchester Road and on seating in the Cemetery End.
