Weather was the winner agree Walsh and Ratcliffe - Bury Times, 22 Aug 1995:
PREDICTABLY both managers blamed Gigg Lane's tropical conditions for the failure of their sides to capture all three points on Saturday.  Although Bury boss Mike Walsh agreed the result was probably fair, he declared the hot weather just didn't suit his team's style of play.   "I used to think Summer football was a good idea, but I'm not so sure now, some of the lads said they were the hottest conditions they had ever played in, " he said.  "Given the heat both teams put in a lot of effort and a draw was probably the right result, but the game was too open for my liking.   "I don't think we played anywhere near our best, those conditions don't really suit our game as it's difficult to push yourself to the limit.
"Unless you play a possession game, in which case you don't see any goalmouth action, it makes it difficult.  "Last Tuesday at Chesterfield we ran hard for the full match yet on Saturday we could only do it in bursts, but our game is about working for the full 90 minutes."  Chester manager Kevin Ratcliffe thought his team were unlucky not to get more from the game.  "I thought we didn't get what we deserved from a great team performance.  "It didn't happen for us in the second half as we couldn't keep the pace up,  but that was inevitable in the heat.  "I felt sorry for both sides, it was very difficult to compete in those conditions."
