Had a good chat with Mr Doweck this afternoon and my first impression of him is quite simple

Which tallies with my earlier comments about him in another post. Anyone can talk a good game, but he is saying what he's said for some time, ie the fans, football and so on. He really does appear a genuine bloke.
It will be interesting to see what style of football we play next season. I hope AD gets his way and we do play football. I hope AP does not carry on the hoof, or as last season, tease us with football at the beginning of the season (well just after the beginning to be precise), only to degenerate into 'it's winter so can't play football on these pitches', then at Spring to 'can't play football now-near the end of the season, got to grind out results'

It's quite refreshing to hear all the positive stuff coming out about Albert Doweck.
I think the entertainment value of the football played at Gigg is a key factor in all this. Much will depend on who we get in now to replace the Nelson/Billy/Newby trio. I think we saw elements of good football in the early part of last season (Pav and Terry coming in had some influence on this).
The fact remains that being well-placed in the league table is no guarantee of good crowds. They seemed to drop off after Xmas and never recover - coinciding with a number of disappointing performances at Gigg. Is sexy football the answer even if not chasing for a top 7 position?
What's going to happen to Nugent this year? Personally, I'd like to see more of him in the first team as there's great potential there.
The other thing we could do with this season is a decent cup run. The Worthy Cup last year was great but sadly not as financially rewarding as perhaps we deserved. The atmosphere at Wrexham at the end of September was a testimony to this - the excitement of playing Bolton next match??
The best thing that could happen to us this year (aside from winning the league and getting 5-figure crowds-hmmm!) would be a good run in the FA Cup and a big game on TV with a bit of extra dosh going into the coffers.

I like the guy already.
He seems like one of those ones that if we make it to the play offs he will come out on the pitch and thank us for the season personally.

He seems a top quality bloke and will build the foundations for us to go onto better things. I thought we would go down this year after losing all of our players, but now i believe mid-table. I think by his comments we will have to sacrifice a couple of seasons near the bottom of the league before we start progressing though.

Quite agree with you all
Having played cricket with the guy - he encourages youth, he is sympathetic to failings - and errors and we all make them.
Albert love ( as he is called) should be a boost for the Shakers - but lets hope AP realises that this is proably his (AP) last chance to prove he can cut the mustard!
From what I've heard so far, the bloke gets my vote. He seems serious about giving the club a good shake and starting to run it like a proper business and, no offence to his predecessors but I think it is needed. After coming out of administration, and getting what seems to be a more permanent chairman/board, we now have a new dawn. We need to look to the future with ambition, tempered with realism.
I can't help but get a good feeling about this, after a few months where it all seemed doom and gloom. Not long ago we had the reserves scrapped, Gordon gone, and an exodus of players. Now things are starting to look that bit more positive again. We still need one or two new faces, and we need fitness from the likes of Seddon and Dunfield, but with a good FA cup run and plenty of commitment we could have a very enjoyable season on the terraces. I'm glad I bought that season ticket now!!
