I am trying to get hold of a copy of the song for the website. Has anyone got an audio file/cd/cassette/vinyl disc of it so that we can upload it and preserve it for ever!!
Also, does anyone know the words and if so could they let me have them as I am sure the ones I have in my head are not the right ones.

I have a 7" vinyl copy somewhere...probably tucked away in my loft !!!
I'll have a look tonight, will post message if found....
I think it went "aye aye aye up...the Shakers, Those sure Bury Shakers....
Not sure though, singing purely from childhood memory !

Well my memory of it is
Aye aye up the Shakers, those cold blooded Shakers!!!! I did suspect that they were not the right words.
Yes find it! It was a great song for the players to run out to or at least get the fans singing!
Aint it
Aye aye up the Shakers, the one and only Shakers!!!!
No it was definately Aye aye aye up the shakers those braw (as in brawny) Bury Shakers or maybe it was Strawberry shakers...

I can see I am going to have problems with this!!
I think it goes UP THE SHAKERS THE GOOD OLD BURY SHAKERS
Correct Eubank! ( or it might have been 'those good old..')
..The pride and joy of Bury town.
We'll travel anywhere to be,
any place where we can see....
over to....?

I have the self same single - lovingly preserved in a plastic sleeve - let me know when and where you want it and I'll do my best to get it to you.
Any chance of Elbow doing us a new one?
Maurice
Can you record it onto tape, or even better CD or Minidisk
What about our other release?
Anyone else remember S-H-A-K-E-R-S?

Aye aye aye up the shakers
The good old Bury Shakers
the pride and joy of Bury town
We'll travel anywhere we see
Wherever we can be
Those good old Bury Shakers
Moving up steadily
Aye aye aye up the Shakers
Good times are waiting round the bend
If you listen you will hear
Then like the Lancy Fusiliers
You'll always come out winning in the end
You'll always come out winning in the end
Not bad purely from memory, did get the single though at the time. May have missed a verse out I think.

Zero. If you could do a copy of it for us as a backup to Andy's digital copy it would be much appreciated. Are you going to the match on Saturday as you could give it to either myself or Gordon there.
Thanks everyone. We will get it on-line and will even produce a full songsheet so that you can all sing along to it. :D

Spooky because only a few weeks ago I tried to compose this as my mobile ringtone. Recorded it, but came out rubbish! Sony phone. Luv it if it could be done properly. Better than all these Blue Moon ringtones going off all the time. (Current ringtone is Pompey chimes, but to be ' I-O-BURY, BURY- I-O.)

We'll get it on-line and then see what we can do with it.
There were names in football too,
who led their team to fame
la la la la la la la
away or at Gigg Lane.
All those days we'll ever treasure,
we'll never let them die,
and support the team forever
la la la la la la
aye aye aye.....

I may be wrong, but I thought there was a copy of the single in the Trophy Cabinet in the Social Club ?
There is, but its unplayable - its warped
All is still and silent now,
upon the barracks square....
They sure don't write 'em like that anymore.

...All around deserted now, no sentries standing there.
But a song will ever live and echo through the years,
The story of the glory of the Lancashire Fusiliers!

Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up just reading the words. Still have my copy, must get it out over the week end. The last time l played it the kids had a good laugh at the song.
How about a digital remix of the record and use it as the run out tune.

Did this ever happen, guys?
It did happen, we got a recording but its not all that clever. We would like a 'good' recording of the song. Once we have that we can move this little project onto the main site.
Before the Huddersfield game, we interviewed one of the chaps that actually sang on the record and it is staggering what went on.
All will be revealed very soon hopefully
