I have heard from Ryan and details are as follows :-
Its on Sunday 10th October!
Entry fee is £25 per team! Maxium of 10 players to a team so if I have worked it out properly and we have ten people its only £2.50 each and everyone will get a game!
Registration begins at 9.15am with the tournament itself kicking off at 10. Groups should be wrapped up by 4:30 pm and the whole day should be over by 6pm bar the post match drinks.
Their hoping to have the bar open throughout along with having food avaliable.
There's a nice engraved trophy for the winners that they just bought today
Format is two groups of 7, with the top 4 going through to the quarter finals.
I have said we will be entering a team so if anyone is interest please let me know asap! So far the team is:-
Myself
ShakerStu
SaltandShaker
Should be a great day and a proper laugh!
I think 5-a-side may be more than my lungs could take. My body isn't so much a temple as an old church with a dodgy roof.
And with a bar open all day I predict the astroturf getting a little bit slippy in places :beer-04: :beer2:

madmark
13-09-2004, 22:18
If anyone plays who says there then yeah!
Any one fancy a couple of practice 5-a-side matches before the tournament?
Maybe one evening during the week sometime, or a Saturday morning if there is no fans team game?
From what I can see, there are at least six of us up for it. Perhaps we can put a request up on the main board for some opposition to play against....unless anyone already knows a of a five-a-side team willing to play?
I'm up for that, preferably on a Saturday morning when we don't have a match though.

Cant really do Sat mornings eap when we are at home as I am at work!
Well I could do an evening as long as I didn't have too much homework or a previous engagement
madmark
20-09-2004, 18:32
Where should we play! What about hiring one of the pitches at Gigg so the club gets the money or we could hire a 5-a-side pitch one Sunday night at the Leisure centre!
Surely we'd bebetter playing on one of the Gigg pitches so the club gets helped out rather than spending the money elsewhere.
madmark
20-09-2004, 18:53
How much are they and can you book them anytime?
I don't know how much they cost, but they certainly don't get used a lot, so I'm guessing you could probably hire them any time you wanted.

if we can theres a un marked 5 a-side piotch behind the changing rooms
a couple of coatys a ball
and the willing keeper and vola
Zero, can you not do evenings because of schoolwork etc, or because you haven't got transport? Some evenings are tough for me - Wednesdays/Thursdays are usually good though - if it's a transport problem, I'd be happy to collect you (and anyone else) when I finish work and drop you off afterwards. Salt, you can walk, you've got no excuse from Redvales!!
If I get chance tomorrow, I'll call the commercial office and find out about the pitches........ all we need then is opposition!
Transportation isn't a problem, it's just a time thing, especially as some nights when I stay in Bury meeting somebody after school and don't get back home until 5, then I have lots of homework to do. I should be able to make most nights though I guess. Definitely can't do this Wednesday though.
Thanks for the offer though, Chip!

I can pick people up as well if they are local! If I have enough warning I can plan my shifts around it! Anytime around 7 would be great as I normally pick Laura up at 4:10 and see her for abit but I am sure she will understand!
Salt and Shaker
21-09-2004, 17:45
7 till about 8

madmark
21-09-2004, 17:52

Salt and Shaker
21-09-2004, 17:54
what i meant was
do team work in one net
i.e heads and volleys and pass and shoot division etc
it works on every aspect
and to work on competivenes Wembley singles
I normally pick Laura up at 4:10 and see her for abit but I am sure she will understand!

I was making a dig at you I was just saying time I get through rush hour traffic, have my tea and do some work for work (what you have to do when you get promoted) I cant make it before 7!
Anyway she said she would come down and play! I think it would be a good idea if everyone in the team brought a mate or something so we could play against them!
I was making a dig at you
I realise that as it would be impossible for you to pick her up  But let's try and keep things friendly can't we? We don't want stuff happening like what did last time. We're on the same side both trying to play for Forever Bury, so let's try to get along without the cheap digs.

If you want to play my five a side team well play you. Not to keen on the concrete pitches though. Soccerdome or phillips or perhaps somewhere indoors seen as though the weather is crap.

madmark
26-09-2004, 18:58
Is everyone still interested?
Yeh sure. I'm pretty busy most days this week with meeting a certain friend and going watching hockey, but next week I could do any night at all, or and Sunday is fine for me as well.

26-09-2004, 19:29
so we got a warm up on Sunday 3rd October
I'm still up for it but things are a bit mad at the moment - Kenilworth Wed, Thurs and Fri last week, London Monday Tues this week. Any chance you can work out the details Mark and I'll do my best to get along on the day/night
madmark
26-09-2004, 19:51
Yeah sure! I am busy this week myself with work and the match! What about a week on Sunday, castle leisure or summit!
Works for me so far - I'd have to bring the kids along unless it's around midday, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem otherwise

I am going to look into the price of the leisure centre, if it works out a few quid each I will book it so what day is best for everyone and what time! I was thinking one Sunday night about 7:30?
Paul are you still up for playing us?
Salt and Shaker
30-09-2004, 16:59
i cant make sundays as i with my gf till 9
Sorry Mark, I can't do 7:30pm on a Sunday - the wife works from 4pm - 11pm......unless of course Salt brings his girlfriend along and she can sit my the kids eating pop and crisps and watching us play. How about it Salt, seems the perfect solution. I could give you and your g/f a lift home afterwards?
