York have released trialists Carl Heiniger and Danny Stone but Ian Lawson has been invited for a trial on Monday.

Despite not retaining Heiniger and Stone, Brass admitted the players had done nothing wrong.

"Carl did ever so well but he is just very similar to what we already have here. I was impressed with him but I couldn't take a gamble," he told the Evening Press.

"In the case of Danny, unfortunately for him with Chris Smith having signed that door has closed for him."

Lawson used to play up front for Huddersfield, Bury and Stockport.

srk - if he playes 40 games over those 5 seasons yes.

I wish he was first choice.
