Boro were on top for pretty much all of this one sided game against their fierce local rivals from Bury, who were looking to avenge a 4-1 defeat for their first team earlier in pre-season.
The game began with Boro on the front foot but squandering chance after chance when a goal seemed a certainty as the ever threatening Wincott, Bushby, Glendon and White were unable to convert. Tom Glendon did however find the net before too long, deftly placing the ball to the left of the onrushing keeper from 15 yards after being put through by Chris Bushby.
This caused Bury to shuffle the front line about in the search for an equaliser, with their taller players being shifted up front looking for long balls, but both Turner and Painter at the back proved more than capable of coping.
The new lack of height at the back was however exploited for Boros second goal when Chris Bushby rose well and headed home powerfully from a corner to leave the Bury fans with a lot of work to do to get back into the game.
Unfortunately though for the home side as the first half drew to a close Forever Bury managed to haul a goal back. The usually reliable Danny Wolstenholme kick hit a Bury forward who slipped the ball square for another player ( did anyone happen to get this guys name) to lob the stranded keeper.
HALF TIME: R.B.F.C. FANS 2-1 FOREVER BURY F.C.
The second half started in a similar manner to the first with the Boro on top of the game, but unable to finish the many chances they had to increase their lead with Jack Wincott, Ste Francis, Chris White and Tom Glendon all coming close but failing to hit the back of the net.
It was goalscoring midfielder Ant Phillips who again popped up to break the second half deadlock when he even found time to take a touch before sidefooting home a Wincott cross.
Boro had now seemingly found their shooting boots in addition to seeing their already solid defence tightened up somewhat, and this enabled Boro to get still further on top of the game with Bury restricted to only two shots for the entire final 35 minutes as Rannard and Turner began to play with the same familiarity as the two regulars on the other side of defence, Lewis and Turner.
Not too long after James Dunne scored his first goal for the Boro fans team with a looping header inside the box after the opposition keeper had thwarted numerous attempts on goal by getting something in the way of them when they seemed destined for the goal.
Club top scorer Jack Wincott was next to score for Boro, notching up his 9th goal for the side. His reward for getting into the right position often during the match was a neat headed goal when it seemed his shooting boots were left at home.
Shortly after Ben Manning went on a mazy run opening up the defence before slipping the ball past the keeper to score a deserved goal after another hard working performance.
As the game drew to a close James Dunne took over in the Boro goal but had nothing really to do as the Boro side scored two more.
Tom Glendon was the next to add to the goals tally when he was put through on goal by the hard working Ben Manning and neatly beat the defender before hitting the ball into the bottom left corner in front of his dad, and Boro boss, Kevin Glendons watchful eye.
Then, straight from kick off, the Boro attacked again and Danny Wolstenholme put the ball past the keeper from close range leaving the referee to blow the full time whistle early straight after
