I don't read the MB very much these days, so I haven't looked through every thread, but following Mr Doweks takeover, I assume we can expect more appointments to the Board of Directors..who were the other two parties that Fred & John refer to ...
Anyway is Neville back on board ???
I ask as there is an article in the Rossendale weekly rag about Chris Casper leaving Bacup Borough (manager by Brent Peters, one time youth coach) to become youth coach at Bury. Peters is quoted as saying that Casper...a close friend of Gary/Philip/becks/Scholes etc...."got a phone call from Neville Neville at Bury offering him the job".
Have I missed something or has it not happened yet ???

On a completely different subject Fozzie, where do you Waterfoot dwellers stand on the Rochdale Metro or Bury Metro question.
Or given that it looks like Rossendale Council will be divvied up anyway would you rather hitch your wagon to the Burnley hillbillies?
:?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
Oh as far as the NN question goes.... sounds like it!!

What's going on Mr Barmcake? What's happening to Rossendale? Historically everybody north of the Quarryman's Arms is by birthright lost to the Shakers, with complex gradations and geographical hotspots determining allegiance to Burnley or Blackburn. Further South through Edenfield loyalty to those crazy cosmopolitans in Horwich or the Super Shakers depended on a turn in the road or the street you lived in. I hadn't heard that Rochdale had a team until I was 17.
But is there a suggestion that these complex loyalties are going to enacted in law?

Tis true my good friend.
It's all to do with the proposed North West Assembly.
If it goes ahead there will have to be fewer local authorities and Rossendale is one of the smallest so it's a fair bet it gets eaten up.
It's also the worst performing in England so there's an even better reason for giving it the chop.
Bury and Rochdale Metro have (I think) had preliminary meetings (bit naughty really!) on how they can divide up the valley authority (Bury to take Edenfield, Helmshore, Rawtenstall and up Cloughfold to Waterfoot.
Rochdale to annexe Whitworth, through Bacup (tasty) and down the valley through Stacksteads to Waterfoot.
Its all pie in the sky at present but summat will happen if the NWA gets the go ahead.
Could be that the Valley folk would rather chuck their clogs in with the Burnley banjo pluckers though...
Exciting times!
Barmcake, are you quoting Reginald Christie in your signature?

The balance of power in the mighty Rossendale valley is indeed probably in favour of the Turf Moor Clampetts, but if this all goes through I'll be suffering a massive identity crisis. How does the Free Press feel about this? Are they bothered, or too busy with £25 stolen from widowledge in CrAWSHAWBOOTH" type headlines. Can we not declare ourselves independent or something?

I'd rather stay part of the Red Rose to be frank.
my two pence.

I understand that it was Nev Neville who spoke to Ian Lawson's agent with regard to his payoff offer - so it sounds like Nev is still on the scene.

To get back to your original post Fozzie.......NN has never left the scene, he is a member of the SOS Trust (they who own circa 81% of the Club - Hugh Eaves shares "purchased" during admin), in fact I think he is the Chairman of said Trust. It follows therefore that all deals re BFC must be done by SOS Trust as they are the major shareholder, if NN is Chair I guess he is in effect in control of the Club at the present time and it should not be a surprise that he is talking to players, agents, prospective investors etc etc etc

Then why is SOS Trust not represented on the Board ?
I have no gripe with NN whatsoever, just curious as to present or evolving role. Is he part of a mysterious consortium who have put Mr Doweck ( I assume he has bought some shares ??) in as Chairman.
Unfortunately due to work, I wont be able to go to shareholders AGM

The SOS Trust was represented on the Board, until recently - Ian Harrop resigned a few weeks back, I assume that there will be a replacement ???

...and I have no idea as to whether Mr Doweck has bought shares or not, nor do I know whether NN is part of this, or any other Consortium, I do know that any take-over or Consortium have to be approved by the SOS Trust though.
Ths SOS Trust currently (and have since Administration) hold the "power" at Bury FC.
I do not know what has been agreed between Mr Doweck and the SOS Trust (or NN)
Didn't Nev Neville become a football agent (for one or both sons) after officially standing down as Commercial Director? If so, it stands to reason that he therefore still has connections in the football world, and if he is as interested in Bury as he says, then it stands to reason that he is also placed to at least notify people of jobs going at Bury, if not actually offer them.
Just a thought
