Right, heres my first attempt at a match report for the fans team
The day started off well with only four confirmed players Chris, Jon, me and my dad but Chris managed to bring his mate along, so we set off for a sports centre just outside York with five players, after having tried in vain to contact Hortash. Anyway, when we got there, Hortash appeared, so we finally had the six players needed for the match, plus Martin despite a recent injury.
The game was to be played in segments of 12 minutes where York would swap their team around because they had about twelve players, who were very skilful, played all the time together, and had some ex-pros in their team as well. Ahem.
So, anyway, the game started with the Bury team getting the upper hand with a few early goals, but York did have a response with a couple of well-taken goals. By the time half-time arrived, we had scored four goals to Yorks two, and I had learnt one of lifes great lessons dont do a sliding tackle on an all-weather surface, its bloody painful! Before the match, Jon had told us not to get angry with the other team as it was just a game, but the first time one of the York players swore, Jon was right in there with a crunching tackle, bringing the lad crashing to the ground!
The second-half saw another goal-feast as we really took a strangle-hold of the game, breaking quickly with Martin, Dave and myself through the middle and on the wings, whilst Jon ably controlled the defence (which consisted of himself), and Chris Murray in net did not really have that much action to do which is good I suppose, because hes not a very good keeper at all! My dad hurt his knee again which saw him go off, only to come on again after. During the final stages of the match, Jon moved himself up-front, desperate to grab a goal like most of the rest of the team had already done. Despite surging runs, he was foiled by the Minstermens keeper on every occasion and failed to get on the score sheet! York, desperate, threw all twelve of their players onto the pitch, but still couldnt break down the resilient Bury defence, and the Shakers always looked dangerous on the attack as well.
In the end, the Shakers managed to score an incredible eleven goals, with me netting six (well, one was actually an own goal by one of their players, but my shot would have gone in anyway that was just a slight deflection), Chris bagging a brace and Hortash, Martin and Dave firing one in each, or at least thats what Chris said in the car on the way home. Im not actually sure if Ive got all the scorers correct, but Im sure theyll correct me afterwards.
It was a good game, even if it was a bit hot, and it resulted in the Bury fans teams first ever victory. The next match is against Yeovil fans on Saturday again, I think, on an all-weather surface. Can Forever Bury FC make it two wins on the bounce? Find out in the next exciting match report!
