The annual trip to Germany is progressing well for myself and DJAsh. We're taking a break from the heat to say Hi. We sweltered through the opening weekend of the German season with our friends from Freiburg, watching their 4-1 defeat by Leverkusen in the BayArena then went across to MönchenGladbach to see their local derby with Köln. The Bocklesburg ground is in its last season and you can tell why, with 34,500 wedged onto its terraces it felt pretty unsafe and there wasn't much space to move about in.
We're now in Bavaria, getting set for a possible 4 game weekend by chilling out and drinking some exceptional local beer.

Keep you posted.

Hope you have a good time Craig but how can you possibly miss the delights of Swansea away?

Have you no shame?

Gladbach used to be my regular haunt during the season, oh how I miss sitting in the bar opposite the train station watching the opposition fans arrive and depart, (along with a few tussles with the home fans).
I also miss the guy that always stood on his pedestle right behind the home goal with his big drum - a character for the club and he was always interviewed by the local tv station post matches.
I also miss the massive headaches after drinking the wonderful German beer and Asbach brandy.
But I am glad to be here so I can watch the Mighty Shakers!
:P :P :D :) :keepyupp:

Is that you Mr Reid?

Things progressing well despite the oppresive heat and today´s result (thanks Tony H for the updates) We vivited Augsberg today for a real lower division experience, it was just like home (but they won!!). Last night went to Regensburg for there 1st game in the 2 liga for 26 years, big party but a long queue for beer and bratwürst at half time.

We´re off to forget the Shakers score in a big stein of bier now.

Just for completion sake.
Sunday was the highest temp I've ever seen a game in (42 Degrees) as Nuremburg beat Burghausen 2-0. The oppresive heat makes it difficult to remember much else.
Far more memorable was the final game of the trip Allemania Aachen V Mainz 05. Aachen wear a kit very similar to last years Black kit (complete with yellow bits) so my shirt got some confused looks. Really good game was spoiled by a bit of referee egomania in the last 10 minutes and a comedy penalty for Aachen in the last seconds made it 2-2. On the way home met an Austrian fan of Blau-Weis Linz who travels Europe regularly seeing plenty of games, who informed us he'd been to the Kidderminster game at Gigg over Xmas last year.

Small World

It must've been a real trial for you! :-)
