Good to see the flying Yorkie back on board. I'm sure if we can get him for the whole season he will be just as valuable an asset as Dux will be.

Welcome back!!

The official site doesn't say whether he's on trial or on loan and for how long.

Harpal is on trial, with a view to a loan deal being arranged with Leeds. It says so in the teaser on the main page

If he plays like he did last time he was with us he'll be fantastic for us.

Preecey is going to have some selection headaches if we do sign him on for the season.

What midfield do we play? 2 wingers and 2 'battlers' in the middle, or does he go back to a 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation to give extra bodies in the middle to balance out the wide players.

Do we play 2 out and out wingers, or do we need someone like Cleggy/Connell on one side.

I'd like to see us with 2 genuine wide players and really go at teams, lets score some goals this season!!

we've only just got preecey playin 442, dont tell him to go back to 532/352 rubbish. you CANNOT play 5 at the back AND have dux. theres no point. with dux and 4 defenders defending and connell + 2 wingers + 2 strikers attacking we've got a perfect balance. whaley and harpal raining in crosses for porter/seddon/preece/nooge/connell they can all head and finish!

roll on the vetch a week on saturday!

I aint telling him to go to 5-3-2 or 3-5-2, I wish he'd play 4-4-2. I'm just looking at the players at his displosal and wondering how he will think they are best deployed.

Just thinking as a manager, will he think that he's overbalanced towards attack and play the 'safe' option of wing-backs as wide players rather than playing out and out wingers and only leaving 2 in midfield.

I hope not, but that seemed to be what was happening last season - extra defenders/defensive midfielders at the expense of forwards.

quote from AP in Bury Times:

Top of his wish list is a central defender while a left sided wide player is also a target.

"We are hoping to play a 4-4-2 formation next season and get players forward more," he explained.

"I'd ultimately like to play with two wide men but obviously it all depends on which players are available to us."

That answers that question then!!

Thank-you Preecey. Just the Centre Half needed now then.......

it doesn't matter what formation Preecey plays, he can't win with the Bury Fans.

Maria has a point - I wonder if we can put something in the beer in the social club - Maybe some of the water City fans drink - a bit of the City type through thick and thin support is whats wanted at Gigg Lane

Is there any point wasting everyones time and giving him a trial? We all know he'd be the best player at the club by a mile if he came here again! Just get the deal sorted Preecey!

It will be great to see Harpal back again. He played well on his last visit, I think everyone was sad to see him go.

It is better for Preecey to have a choice of attacking players than no choice at all.

We have the makings of a good team shaping up.

We can go places!!

Signing Harpal for the season would be a terrific move. He was excellent in his loan spell. That goal against Bristol City was absolute top drawer. And playing a proper winger hopefully means we won't stick somebody out wide who would be better deployed elsewhere, eg: Nugent. We've been down that road before!

Welcome Home Harpal!

Get him signed on quick - can't understand why he has to 'trial' for the club again.

If someone else gets wind of this ie Sheff Wed or even 'Colin' we may miss out.

It would also be nice to see a whole season loan spell - why do we always
seem to end up with only 3 month spells?

AndyBarls

perhaps it is Harpal that is unsure about commiting long term - just a thought.

Perhaps we haven't got the finances to sign him full time - just another thought :?

Stevo
31-07-2003, 14:58
Just another thought - maybe he's lost his form - the article says he had unsuccessful spells at Bristol City & Bradford doesn't it?

I think a trial is a good idea before we commit any money to the deal.

Surely not the same Harpal Singh who said that he would rather go shopping on a Saturday afternoon than turn out for the Mighty Shakers?

Just chatting to a guy at work who's a Leeds fan, says Singh was star performer for the reserves recently and can't understand why he isn't given a run in the first team.

Leeds won't let us take him for the full season, that's why it's only a 3 monther.
