I post a well known quote from a film.
If you recognise it you identify the film and post your own quote which then has to be recognised by another board user, and so on.
Your starter for ten: " We want the finest wines av graemlins/joker.gif available to humanity. We want them here, now" graemlins/joker.gif graemlins/joker.gif :D ;)
Withnail & I
"Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful."
Kind Hearts and Coronets (thanks Google also)
this one's easier:
"Commander tear this ship apart until
you've found those plans and bring me the passengers I want them alive!! ..."

Someone please solve this!!!
Can't find it on Google or anywhere, so the game is stone dead. It can't be that well known if no-one knows it. C'mon Barmcake give us another easier one!

Too difficult Sir. Any clues available ?
I agree. This game will never get going if people put difficult quotes up.
Also, is Deliverance correct? The only squeal/pig quote I can find for that film is "Get up boy, I bet you can squeal. I bet you can squeal like a pig".
If Sir Vic or Balmcake don't come up with answers shortly, then someone else will have to start a quote. graemlins/goofy.gif graemlins/wavey.gif
Barmcake
15-07-2002, 21:19
Yeah, Deliverance was the answer I was looking for. Don't know Sir Vic's quote though!!!
Sounds like a Wizard of Oz quote to me.
If its right then:
"he's not comming out, he's been a naughty boy"
if its not right we could carry on with this one (easy) graemlins/rl.gif

"This is this".
Correct. I try and give easy-ish ones that everyone knows without having to look it up.

Blues Brothers ...
The clue about the snail is NOT Raiders of the Lost Ark
Clue: the quote is heard on a tape recording of a SW radio broadcast...and Harrison Ford IS in the scene. ;)
"Don't push me" is from loads of films. I got the answer Sopranos and Alien:Resurrection from Google and also an internet film database.
Is the snail quote from Apocalypse Now?

then here's one from one of the first "talkie" war movies ever made (circa. 1930)...
Paul: I heard you in here reciting that same old stuff, making more iron men, more young heroes. You still think it's beautiful and sweet to die for your country, don't you? We used to think you knew. The first bombardment taught us better. It's dirty and painful to die for your country. When it comes to dying for your country, it's better not to die at all. Correct Darryl and 2 stars for you. graemlins/coolglasses.gif
Not sure about your quote. Can't find it on the internet. Is it Gone With the Wind?
No, that line would have been "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again" or something like that.
"She" said this line to the guy who killed her dad, the guy with the silver nose cap who had it bit off by his twin brother, now the drunken washed up gun slinger she had hired to protect her dad. The guy playing the dual role (never should have) won an Oscar for it...
[ 15 August 2002, 20:23: Message edited by: Deeyev ]
No idea. What year is it? But there again I probably still wouldn't know. graemlins/goofy.gif
Lee Marvin played the dual role of Kid Sheleen (the drunken gunslinger) and his protagonist twin brother "Strawn". Nat 'King' Cole and Stubby Kaye narrated throughout sort of as troubadors playing banjo, guitar and piano. The Movie came out sometime in the mid-sixties. Marvin won the Oscar. Oh yeah, Jane Fonda was the heroine Catherine (nicknamed "Cat")saved from the hangman at the last minute by her gang (a lot like Squire Western cutting down Tom Jones as the noose tightened around his neck).
Must be Paint Your Wagon then with someone called Cat Balloo? (I remember the cat Balloo song and I Was Born Under a Wandrin Star).
"We rob banks"

Cat Ballou is the movie...I'll have to mull over your quote.
PS: Paint Your Wagon is a musicak that did star Lee Marvin along with Clint Eastwood in the move version, and they both had the cojones to sing in it undubbed. Pretty wierd...

It's a Wonderful Life
